Other Competitions

At Brocklewood we try and get involved with as many sporting events and competitions as possible. See below the different events and competitions that Brocklewood have taken part in. Children that behave well, try hard in PE lessons, regularly attend after school clubs and remember their PE kit are more likely to be chosen to represent the school in a team.

Results, Fixtures & Events

Monday 12th February – Year 3/4 Sports hall athletics team – A great afternoon of sports hall athletics saw Brocklewood crowned the Transform heat winners and took home the Transform trophy. It also means the team will now take part in the semi-finals of the Nottingham City sports hall athletics! A fantastic achievement – well done to everybody involved.

Tuesday 6th February – Congratulations to our two Boccia teams! The two teams finished 1st and 2nd at the Nottingham City heats which means both teams have qualified for the finals of this event which will take place after half term.

Monday 22nd January – Year 5 this girls can festival – A team of year 5 girl’s had a great afternoon playing and trying out lots of sports including athletics, kurling, handball and hockey. A special well done to the team as Brocklewood finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the speed bounce competition!

Thursday 18th January – Year 5&6 handball team – The team took part in the Nottingham City handball competition at Harvey Hadden. The children did very well!T he team won their group games, this meant they qualified for the next stage of the competition against the other group winners. Two defeats at this stage however meant that Brocklewood finished 4th overall – Just missing out on the Bronze medals!

Wednesday 10th January – The half term got off to a fantastic start with a cross country running event at Wollaton Park. So many children from across the city took part in the event and as always the Brocklewood children represented the school so well.

Tuesday 12th December – Year 5&6 athletics team – The team took part in Brocklewood’s first ever final of this competition. 38 schools started in this competition and the team got to the final 6 schools. In a close and exciting afternoon Brocklewood ended the competition in 4th place just missing out on the bronze medals! The children did so well to make it this far in the competition and should be very proud!

Monday 11th December – Year 3&4 handball team – The team took part in the Nottingham City handball competition at Harvey Hadden. The children did incredibly well! Finishing runners up and taking home the silver medals. Well done to all!

Thursday 30th November – Year 3&4 gymnastics team – The year 3&4 gymnastics team took part in the city competition at Ellis Guilford. Well done to all involved.

Monday 27th November – Year 5&6 sports hall athletics team – The team took part in the semi-final of the sports hall athletics finishing in 2nd place. This means the team has reached the final of the competition that takes place in December. It’s the first time Brocklewood have qualified for the final of this event.

Tuesday 21st November – KS2 multi sports team – 20 children from year 5 made up 2 teams at this multi sports event. The children enjoyed Handball, athletics and kurling.

Friday 17th November – The Brocklewood PE and school sports committee was launched and they attended the young ambassador conference.

Monday 13th November – Year 6 girls’ multi sports team – Some girl’s from year 6 took part in an all girls’ multi sports event at Harvey Hadden. A great effort taking part in relay races, kurling and handball.

Wednesday 18th October – Class 5D took part in the Transform Trust fun run at Colwick Park. Each lap of the lake children received a wrist band – bronze for the first lap, silver for the second and gold for the third lap. All the children came home with the bronze, silver and gold! Well done 5D!


Thursday 5th October – The cross country running team had a great time in a relay event at Colwick Park. Brocklewood had 2 teams at this event with one of them finishing in 4th place overall – just missing out on the bronze medals.

Monday 3rd & Monday 10th October – Year 5/6 sports hall athletics team – The team took part in two heats that they were part of winning both! This means they have qualified for the semi-finals of this School Sport Nottingham competition that will take place in November.

Monday 2nd October – The year 6 multi sports team – This was a fantastic event at Harvey Hadden that saw the team take part in athletics, dodgeball, hockey and new age kurling. Well done to all involved!

Thursday 28th September – Year 6 hockey team – The first School Sport Nottingham event was a hockey event at Highfields Hockey Centre. A record number of teams entered this event so it was great that Brocklewood were a part of it.
