Attendance and School Opening Times

Attendance at Brocklewood

In order for your child to reach their full potential, it’s so important they have a good attendance record at school. Please read the Brocklewood Primary School Attendance policy and find out more information you might not know.

Most children achieve 96% attendance and this is our target at Brocklewood. In order to achieve this target your child needs to attend school every day, children should only be absent if they are unwell. If your child is ill you must inform the school office before 9am on 0115 9153272.

If you aren't sure whether to send your child into school if they are unwell please phone the office and we can help you make a decision. We can administer calpol or any prescribed medicine that your child needs, if you visit the office to fill out a form.

In school, attendance is managed by our Attendance Officer Miss Bell, our office staff and Mrs Tarrant.  They are always there to answer and questions you may have regarding your child’s attendance. Please see the policies page for the most up-to-date policy.

The School Day

Morning Nursery                                 8.30am – 11.30am
Afternoon Nursery                              12.15pm – 3.15pm
Foundation and Key Stage 1                8.45am – 3.15pm
Key Stage 2                                         8.45am – 3.15pm

Total school day hours = 32.5 hours a day.

We request that children do not come onto the school premises until 8.35am. School is closed until the bell goes at 8.45am. If it is raining KS1/F2 pupils will be let into classrooms slightly earlier and KS2 pupils and parents will be let into the corridor when staff are available.

We ask that all nursery parents wait outside the door to main reception when collecting their child until a member of the nursery staff collect them. This is to avoid excess noise and congestion in the reception area.

When you collect your KS2 child at 3.15pm we request that you wait in the playground for them. Of course, if you wish to visit your child’s teacher, you are welcome to come into school after 3.15pm, this is better than first thing in the morning when the teacher is settling the children in.

KS1/F2 pupils are collected from classroom doors.
